Anyway, I think that's all I have to say about my sinuses, other then THEY HURT! Last night I dreamed about having a whole drilled in my forehead to drain them. I was sad when I woke up and it wasn't real.
A little of this, a little of that. Perhaps a lot of whining, perhaps a lot of arguing for truth and social justice. It will be what it will be.

dreamer takes a sick day
If you've been following this blog for a while, you'll have noticed a trend, for a relatively healthy 22 year old, I'm really not all that healthy. I'd given up posting about my sinuses, but in the past eight weeks, I've been to urgent care twice and my family doctor twice, taken three rounds of anti biotics, used nasal irigation, had decogestants react with my effexor, taken decogestants anyway and hoped for the best, and spent WAY too much time whining about my sinuses.
My second urgent care visit was today. It took six hours, but I think it was worth it. I saw this awesome nurse practitioner student (I love nurse practitioners by the way). He took the time to really figure out what was going on with me. I got poked and proded, x-rayed and stuck for blood. And this nurse practioner student figured out what the doctors didn't. I don't have a bacterial infection. That would be why the drugs didn't work! Now I have some nasal steroids and the joyous diagnosis of "chronic sinusitis". Colour me not impressed.

Poor you..
if he gave you nasal inhaler steroids you have to be very careful with them. steroids in general will suck the life out of your immune system, but the nesal one's seemed to me to be worse. they are great in the beginning and will get you well, but once you get well get rid of them until the next time. this was something i learned the hard way. i know you already wash sophie cat, be sure you change your air filters regularly...like every two weeks. vacuum up the cat hair as often as you can. you might want to go check with an allergist too. it took me years to figure out i'm allergic to ragweed and goldenrod. anyway, that's my 2 cents. i'm with you on nurse practitioners and i love physician's assistant's too. they seem to be more in tune with "whole" patient care than doctors. Hope you feel better!!!
Thanks for the advice Prin. I think it's worth more then two cents! I'm going to talk to my doctor about seeing an allergist. Cause this is ridiculous. bah.
Glad to hear that you are feeling better and that you think NPs are great. I'm one and think we are pretty darn terrific if I say so myself!
Owwww, those sinus things r e a l l y hurt...feel better, 'k?
thanks guys! The steroids are definitely helping my sinuses, now I've got a cough though. ick. I just want to be better!
