I wish there were something more positive I could say but there isn't - I know how you feel though because I've been there and if you do want to drop me a line for any reason at all, please. Lots of hugs and positive thoughts to you and your family.
It's such hard stuff. I'm dealing with my mom's health issues now too. I think one of the really hard things is that there isn't a "right thing". There's no magic words or solutions.
My heart goes out to you. The philosophy of Hospice may provide some helpful information and/or insight. There are times when even doctors and nurses don't know what to do and philosophies of pain relief may vary between disciplines and providers. Take care......
